MSC Fitting

Product Overview

MSC fittings—specifically Male Stud Couplings—are a standard category of hydraulic and instrumentation compression fittings designed to connect rigid tubing or flexible hoses to a threaded port. They are engineered to provide a high-pressure, leak-proof seal without the need for welding or specialized tools. Typically manufactured from 316 Stainless Steel or Mild Steel (MS), these fittings are essential in high-stakes environments like chemical processing, marine engineering, and oil and gas industries due to their superior tensile strength and resistance to vibration.

The primary function of an MSC fitting is to facilitate the mounting and adjustment of components, such as temperature probes or hydraulic lines, into a pressurized process. They utilize a double-ferrule or single-olive compression system: as the nut is tightened onto the male body, the internal ferrules 'bite' into the tubing or element, creating a mechanical grip that holds firm even under thermal shock or intense pulsation. This design allows for precise control over the insertion depth of the connected part, which is critical for accurate sensory readings in pharmaceutical or HVAC applications.

Versatility is a hallmark of MSC fittings, as they are available in a vast array of thread standards including NPT, BSPT, BSPP, and Metric forms. Their metal-to-metal seating ensures a bubble-tight seal for gases and liquids, while specialized variants may include Teflon (PTFE) olives to prevent marking or scratching the surface of delicate sensors. Because they can be repeatedly disassembled and reassembled without damaging the system, MSC fittings are the industry standard for systems requiring frequent maintenance or reconfiguration.
